Brief History of the Dawn Christadelphians |
|
The Role Of Women Part 1 A woman is not a man with a different reproductive system. In some ways men outshine women, and in other ways women outclass men. Women were made by God to nurture others, and in this regard they really shine. We can see how God made women to nurture when we look at women's career choices since 1970. Around this time, women were allowed full freedom to major in any college career they desired. For the next 40 years women flocked to nurturing majors like teaching children and the medical profession while few women studied engineering, or physics. In looking at God fearing women in the days of Jesus, we see them as excelling in nurturing. "also the women who had been healed... contributing to their support out of their private means." (Luke 8:2-3 see also Mark 15:41, Matthew 27:55, matthew 8:15) Although it is not a sin for a woman to have a paying job, (Acts 16:14) a wife ideally would be a homemaker, (Titus 2:5) although this is not always possible. Why are women good caretakers? God made Eve to be a helper for Adam, (Genesis 2:20) and it is stressful for a man to make a living. (Genesis 3:17-19) A wife sets the tone of a home, making it a pleasant place for a man to return to after a hard day's work. A wife can be a helper for her husband in a number of ways. Sometimes a husband wants a spotless home, or good cooking. He may even need the wife to be a breadwinner, but the wife's job is to be the husband's helper. Throughout history men have often looked down on women because they are helpers, however this is not how God sees things. the Apostle Paul said, "the members of the body (of Christ) which seem weaker are necessary and those members of the body, which we deem less honorable, on these we bestow more abundant honor..." (2 Corinthians 12:22-23) God made women to be nurturers so and in this they truly outclass men. (Quotations from the New American Standard Bible)
